CFS receives a Commendation at the Film Society of the Year Awards

The Film Society of the Year awards are held annually at the National Conference of Cinema for All, the umbrella organisation for Film Societies and Community Cinemas around the country. There are now well over 1,500 film societies who are eligible for awards and a shortlist of awards is drawn up and judged by a panel of independent industry professionals.

This year we were shortlisted in the Best Film Programme category and were up against some serious (friendly) competition.

In the event we received a Commendation, which is effectively second prize. The winners were Film Unit, a group who would be hard to beat as they put on 3 films a week with a wide range to themes.

Obviously the biggest reward we get for programming the films is the wonderful feedback we receive from members, but it’s also great to get recognition from our peers that we are putting on one of the best programmes in the country.
