A tender yet unsentimental character study; Plan 75 uses its dystopian setting to explore our relationship with death and what it really means to live. Set in the near future, Plan 75 is being brought in by the government to relieve Japan’s burden of supporting ‘wasteful’ elderly care. The film follows three characters; an elderly woman who is persuaded to sign up; a Filipino migrant worker in the Plan 75 ‘processing’ plant and a young man who works as a salesman for the plan. We watch as their disparate lives and overlapping stories eventually come together.
